Sorry it took so long to get back to this! Life seems to get in the way of most of my best laid plans!
I’d like to introduce you to Heather!
Heather and Brian have been married for 8 years this July. They have been blessed with four children. Three boys and a little lady (all of them adorable!). Michael is 6, Casey 5, Peyton is almost 3, and Grace is 8 months. She says that “Working for Snap-EZ has been such a blessing for our family. It gives us an opportunity to do some extra things that we wouldn’t be able to do on a single income. I love that I can work from home on my time. I am able to put my family first and work second. It has really helped us because I don’t have to pay for childcare!!!”
She also said that as a family they love anything outdoors. Her boys look forward to the weekends when they either go out on the boat to go fishing or duck hunting with their Daddy. The favorite for everyone is crabbing.
Heather sews diapers for us. She just learned to sew our adult line as well, and she is just now learning to sew the nursing pads! She’s a quick learner, and does a great job every time. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Heather over the years (I think she’s been working for us about 3 years now). I find it so rewarding to know that my business is blessing more than just my family, but also allowing these moms to stay home with their children, and also bring in a little extra income to make ends meet!
I started this blog! It was actually 3 weeks ago last Saturday, but I wasn’t even home…and my 25th wedding anniversary overshadowed everything else!
Just for fun, you can see the first personal post I made. My friend, Renee (of Bakers Dozen Blog – see side bar), was the one who encouraged me to start this. She thought people would like to know more about me and my life, especially my customers. She was right!
Speaking of Renee – she\’s started her own photography business, Little Earthling Photography and did this portrait for me last month!
I usually get around 2000 hits per month, but since I got on Facebook, I’ve averaging closer to 3000/mo! We had a record high when Esther as so sick, Oct 2008 registered 10,419 hits, and December 2008 was 12,726!! It was so nice to have my blog already in place when I needed it to keep friends and family up to date!
Over the past 3 years, my blog has tallied up over 111,000 hits…not bad considering I’m not a consistent blogger!
I always want to blog more, but for some reason, I just can’t find the time – I guess I have too many priorities above blogging, so it doesn’t happen that often!
Thanks for sticking with me even when I don’t post very often everyone!
As most of you know, we use many local Work-At-Home-Moms to sew all our products. Each of them have their own home businesses, part of which is doing the sewing for us! Through the years we’ve had as many as 12 WAHMs working for us, but we usually have an average of 8. They have to commit to working at least 10 hours a week for us, and I personally train them so that our products have a consistency of finished product that normally would only come from having them all sewn by the same person! Each of our seamstresses were trained over a period of about 2 weeks, spending around 2 hours in training one day, then practicing at home for one day, and then back for the next step.
I recently asked a few of our seamstresses if they would be willing to share a little about themselves with our customer so they could get a better picture of how our business works, and how purchasing from us helps support women working at home with their children – not people working in factories across the ocean.
So stay tuned, to learn about each one and see how your are making a difference in the lives of these women!
For today, I’ll start with our shop manager – my daughter, Jessica.
Jessica doing her favorite thing - holding a baby!
Jessica completed her education almost 2 years ago, being homes-chooled for all of her education. She began working for me a soon after we began Snap-EZ as the work load became moer than I could handle alone, starting with learning to sew each of the products and apply the snaps. Then she began doing the shipping for me, and also processing returns and exchanges. She now has added managing production as well – creating cut lists and putting together bins for our seamstresses to pick up. She is very happy that she can work from home, and avoid having to go out into the public sector to work in the typical places that young people work – working the hours she wants to work, in the comfort of our home, and enjoying the challenge or planning and executing the activities that keep our business running!
On a more personal note, Jessica enjoys playing the piano, going to movies with her brothers, playing games like Monopoly and Nerts, baking cookies and learning to cook new dishes. She loves to go camping, and is learning to work on cars – she recently learned to do soldering and helped her dad to rewire his project car. She loves babies, and hope to one day be a wife and mother.
Our Thanksgiving decorations just went up, and we have so much to be thankful for…
One year ago, on Oct 27, Esther came home from the hospital for the first time at 5 1/2 weeks old! She was again hospitalized for the month December, and undergoing open heart surgery just after Christmas. Today she is healthy and growing and such a joy to our family!
And next week our oldest son, Jeremy will be home for the first time since his deployment in Iraq (he serves our country in the Marines)! We are so excited to have him home for a whole month!
God has been good to us and we want to give you something to be thankful for as well!
We are happy to announce that we are now offering 3 new colors in our Snap-EZ Eco Products!!
